It's a proven fact: Teens who see printed portraits of themselves and/or with their family around their home feel loved.
In a world where we see overly photoshopped models every where, social media influencers pushing everything to make us "better", and old fashion peer pressure - everyone should be reminded, in any way possible, that they are loved for who they. Teens definitely need this. When they look at their album or see those prints around their home they remember the experience that came with it: the planning, the shopping, the session, seeing their gallery for the first time, the excitement of picking up the order to bring home. Subconsciously, up-to-date portraits around their home remind them that they are cared for, cherished and loved.
A special, no cost add-on we suggest is hand writing a letter to include enclosed in the framing of wall print. Most parents will keep wall art until a special date - such as their "little one's" wedding day - before passing the print down. The letter is then opened, adding another chapter to the story of the print. It'll make them feel the love all over again.
#3. RECORD AN IMPORTANT PART OF YOUR TEEN'S LEGACY
Look back through your family albums. Nearly everyone has professional photographs recording the important stages of their lives. Before we had phone camera in a back pocket, our parents would take us to the portrait studio for a session for big birthdays just like their parents did of them. During sporting events they would buy prints from the professional photographer because they KNEW those pictures were better than the ones they got with their consumer camera still waiting in the back of the camera to be developed. By recording these events they solidified our legacy in print. Now it's your turn to do this for your Teen - invest in their printed legacy. Book a session centered around the teenage milestone. Invest in beautiful professional portraits for them to share their stories with their children. Let's include their favorite outfits, their pet, their hobbies. Lets keep their legacy alive in the family albums.
#2. CAPTURING AN OFTEN MISSED MILESTONE
Look at your wall - how old is your baby in the last photograph you have of him or her? If it's more than 3 years old, you are due for a update - book it now! Honest fact: many of the families who book portrait sessions with us for their teenagers have not had a professional portrait of them made since they were toddlers! 10 years is way to long to go without an updated portrait and don't wait for the Senior Year! The Tween (ages 10-12) and early teen years are the most often missed milestone to be photographed. In a generation where a phone camera is attached to us 24/7 and the selfies never end, it's a easy mistake to make. Seriously, go to our contact page and shoot us an email to book, then come back to read Reason #1!
In a world where your teenager takes more selfies in day than you ever did in your entire childhood, it's easy to dismiss the fact that many teens crave self confidence. In a professional portrait session with me they are shown how beautiful they are - inside and out. I teach them how to carry themselves tall and gracefully. I explain why I'm posing them in a certain way and how it can transfer into better snapshots with their friends. They let go of their insecurities and have fun knowing that I am doing everything possible to make their awesomeness shine! This confidence radiates through in their portraits and every time they see them they remember that feeling. Booking a session for your teen is one of the most rewarding ways you can invest in their confidence.
